The Development Manager plays a vital leadership and operational role in advancing the school’s fundraising and community engagement efforts. This position reports jointly to the Director of Philanthropy and CEO and works in close collaboration with the Marketing Manager and Development Assistant to ensure that development initiatives are strategically aligned with the school’s broader communications and branding efforts.

The Develop Manager manages the day-to-day operations of the Development Office and directly supervises the Development Assistant. This role is central to ensuring that all development activities — including donor stewardship, data management, event planning, and campaign execution — are carried out efficiently and professionally. While the job is primarily focused on managing the development office through indirect fundraising, some direct fundraising is included where appropriate.

  • Serve as a key member of the development team, helping implement strategic priorities and goals.

  • Maintain organized systems for donor records, campaign data, and office documentation.
  • Generate, analyze, and distribute regular reports on donor giving, campaign progress, and event participation.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in reporting and donor record-keeping.
  • Oversee Development Assistant to:
  • Process donations, generate receipts and acknowledgments, manage reports, and maintain the donor database.
  • Coordinate with the business office to reconcile donations, track pledges, and ensure timely payment of development-related invoices.

Fundraising & Donor Stewardship

  • Assist the Director of Philanthropy in executing fundraising strategies, including the annual campaign, major gift cultivation, alumni outreach, and targeted appeals.
  • Draft donor-facing communications and collaborate on appeals, acknowledgments, and email campaigns as needed.
  • Where appropriate, lead donor stewardship efforts, including personalized follow-ups, milestone recognition, and regular updates.
  • Manage direct solicitations where appropriate.

Collaboration with Marketing Manager

  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy and Marketing Manager to develop promotional materials such as brochures, email templates, social media content, and website updates as needed.
  • Ensure consistent, compelling messaging across all development platforms.
  • Maintain and update fundraising content on the school’s website and donor communication channels.

Special Projects & Strategy

  • Support the Director of Philanthropy and CEO in donor prospecting, researching foundations, and assisting with grant applications and reports.
