Overview

Oversee the Judaic Studies department at SHWCT. 
Recruit and onboard appropriate faculty. Ensure the curriculum is appropriate for college level studies. Oversee all faculty and ensure compliance with paperwork and LMS requirements. Perform the Departmental Review per the Assessment Schedule. Teach coursework in the Judaic Studies  department and offer community lectures throughout the year.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the Judaic Studies Department at SHWCT throughout the year: 
  • Oversee and guide the overall Limudei Kodesh curriculum; 
  • Ensure faculty are in place to teach all required semester classes; 
  • Assist with onboarding new faculty and oversee their completion of all semester paperwork for assessment;  
  • Monitor that all classes are appropriate and of excellent quality;
  • Conduct periodic Department Reviews as required per the college assessment schedule.

 

  1. Review and update the Judaic Studies entrance and completion examinations, grade the exams and report outcomes.

 

  1. Teach 2 Chumash classes per semester (Fall and Spring semesters) and an additional class for women of the community twice a month, tentatively every other Sunday AM throughout the year. Additional classes may be added and will be compensated at the current adjunct faculty rate.

 

  1. Hold office hours, for 2 hours each day, Monday through Thursday, to meet with students and address Limudei Kodesh matters and to engage in additional chaburot to promote learning and engagement in the Limudei Kodesh classes.

 

  1. Advise students, as needed, toward completion of the Judaic Studies major at SHWCT. 

 

  1. Promote the women’s college to the community and promote the SHWCT Limudei Kodesh department through speaking engagements throughout the year (four engagements over the course of the year at strategic times).

  2. Work closely with the SHWCT Senior Administrator, Mrs. Rena Spiegel, and the Director of Academics and Student Success, Mrs. Bari Fleischer, to ensure smooth operations and open communication between your department and the college.

 

  1. Support institutional planning, policy formation, decision-making and evaluation of program effectiveness as a member of the Faculty Senate and serve as a member of a designated committee and attend the semester meetings.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Judaic Studies or comparable.
  • 5+years of advanced teaching in the subject matter.

Maximum Salary

USD $60,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $40,000.00/Yr.
