Overview

Direct IT strategy and planning for HTC’s main (Skokie), Chicago, and Fargo Ave. campuses in consultation with Touro University central IT department. Serve as the primary “go-to” professional on HTC campuses for all matters related directly and indirectly to technology. Responsible for providing IT maintenance and support for all of HTC. Accountable for ensuring continuity of IT services for users through technical planning, central IT collaboration, and project coordination. This position includes some evening and infrequent weekend hours, and will have a dotted line to the Deputy CIO for IT Operations and Services for Touro University.

Responsibilities

Local expertise:

  • Provide IT support to staff, faculty, and students in person and remotely in a friendly, timely manner
  • Supervise IT staff with support efforts and project tasks.  Hire staff as needed and/or in the event of departmental growth.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripheral devices issues; verify functionality of components
  • Identify vulnerabilities, the need for upgrades, and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop annual IT budget in coordination with supervisor, department heads of HTC schools, and Touro
  • Conduct all IT purchasing for HTC needs utilizing the Touro One / Banner purchasing platform
  • Set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers
  • Set up new user profiles, email accounts, etc., as needed
  • Ensure that reported IT issues and helpdesk tickets are resolved in a timely manner, and log records of repairs and helpdesk tickets in Touro HelpDesk platform
  • Serve as HTC liaison and manage vendors touching HTC technology directly or indirectly (phone system vendor, PA system, building access control, AV issues, etc.)
  • Performs other IT-duties as assigned by supervisor

 

In collaboration with Touro central IT:

  • Maintain Touro-specific applications and anti-virus software to ensure system and network security and consistency.
  • Install and manage well-functioning LAN/WAN and other networks and manage components
    (servers, IPs, etc.)
  • Schedule and conduct routine network maintenance and upgrades in conjunction with Touro central network team.
  • Lead project work of varying complexity and priority, overseeing all phases of projects from conception to completion and ensuring that projects are completed within budget and on time
  • Interact with department and management throughout the organization to resolve escalated issues and/or provide recommendations related to business, technical, budgetary concerns
  • Conduct daily network backup operations
  • Ensure security, functionality, and reliability of data, network access, and backup systems
  • Act in alignment with organizational policy and system functionality while meeting user needs
  • Assist with the network administration under the guidance of TCUS networking team

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Preparation, and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or above in related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in computer support and maintenance
  • Experience supervising other IT support staff preferred

Physical Demands

Computer Skills

  • Knowledge of operating systems, networking, hardware and software commonly used in schools and business environments
  • Microsoft Office and Office 365
  • Demonstrable knowledge, experience and expertise in key technology disciplines used within HTC/TOURO
  • Understanding of IT principles and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to varied audience
  • Strong sense of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality

Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000

 

Travel

  • Regular travel between HTC’s campuses (located within 4 miles of each other)
